Summer Safety Tips
When temperatures get this hot in Boise and surrounding Treasure Valley, it’s always a good idea to review some summer safety precautions.
- Wear clothes that are suitable for your work. Working without a shirt on can be dangerous. For work involving any grinding, welding, machining, or other similar tasks, we recommend wearing a buttoned, long sleeved shirt.
- Stay hydrated. Some experts recommend a minimum of 64oz of water every day or more depending on body weight. Staying hydrated helps your body regulate body temps, and stay alert. Avoid drinking sugary soft drinks on a hot day, some studies have shown that sugary soft drinks can increase the risk of dehydration.
- Avoid open-toed footwear while working. We recommend steel-toed boots or safety shoes.
- If you feel sick, dizzy, weak, confused, or notice a rapid pulse, move to a cool area, and take a rest. If symptoms don’t improve, ask for medical attention.
Safety is important all year long, but with things heating up, we hope these time help you make it through another hot Boise summer!
