A big bore provides a better machanical seal environment than a standard bore seal chamber and provides better isolation from heat.
TAPER BORE
A taper bore seal chamber typically provides the best mechanical seal environment.
Both types offer the following advantages
- Increased radial clearance between the mechanical seal and the seal chamber wall.
- Better circulation of liquid to and from the seal faces.
- Improved lubrication and heat removal/cooling of seal faces.
- Improved flushing of solids/debris from seal faces.
- Better isolation from heat (big bore is superior in this regard).
- Extended seal life and pump uptime.
- Lower maintenance costs
